How To Order

A portrait in watercolour of your favourite dog, cat or horse is a wonderful way to remember your much loved pet for ever. It can also make a lovely, original gift for someone.

Getting Started

To commission a pet portrait please contact me initially, using the form on my contact page, with any queries you might have. I will be happy to answer any questions.

When you wish to place an order please use the contact form stating your name and address and what you require (ie head only or full body, size of painting etc), attaching your photos. Please attach only high resolution files if possible.

Send Photos

The quality of the photos you send will affect the amount of detail in your pet portrait. The better the photos, the better the painting. If the quality of the photos is too poor I may not be able to use them. If in doubt as to whether your photos are good enough please email them to me and I will be happy to let you know.

If taking some photographs of your pet for a pet portrait, here are a few things to bear in mind:

  1. A clear close up of your pet’s head is important.
  2. Ideally the photos should be taken in natural light but not strong sunlight. However, I can use photos taken inside with a flash, provided that your pet’s eyes are not ‘red’.
  3. It is best to take the pictures at eye level if possible, rather than looking down (or up in the case of a horse) at your pet.
  4. Don’t worry about the background in your photos, just concentrate on your pet.

Pay Deposit

A deposit of £20 is required once I have confirmed that I will be able to paint your portrait. (See under prices for my charges)

When your pet portrait is finished I will email you with a scan of my artwork for your approval. Only when you are 100% satisfied with the artwork will I ask for payment. It is important to me that my customers are happy with the finished portrait; in the unlikely event that you are not happy with the finished portrait (ie the scan) I will refund your deposit.

Pay Final Balance

Once you are happy with the finished portrait I will require the rest of the payment. You can either pay with Paypal or cheque (payable to Annes Mien) or cash if you live locally, (you don’t need a Paypal account to pay via Paypal).

Once the payment has cleared, your unframed pet portrait will be despatched to you attached to a mount which will fit in a standard size frame. I will send it to you by recorded delivery, the cost of which is included in the price.

Framing (Local only)

For anyone who lives locally I will be able, if requested, to arrange for your picture to be framed for you at an additional cost of £20. Unfortunately because of the cost of postage I am unable to offer this service to anyone else.
